We found out yesterday that our staff Christmas party will be on Monday, December 17th. Working at a hotel means we have to take what's available and our ballroom is booked for other company parties every weekend. Nobody is thrilled with the idea of a Monday party and having to go to work the next morning.
Also, there doesn't seem much enthusiasm this year for a party. As far as I'm concerned it's a complete waste of time. Housekeeping staff congregate in one area along with the Maintenance staff, the Front Desk staff all sit together, the restaurant staff have their own clique and then Management staff are at one or two other tables.
It wasn't always this way. The hotel staff parties used to be lots of fun and everyone knew everyone else. Now I don't know most of the housekeeping staff at all.

It snowed yesterday for the first accumulation of the season and it's supposed to snow even more today - up to 15cm. For those of us that hate winter and snow I guess we got spoiled last year because we didn't see snow until mid-January.
Yes - I hate winter and I hate the snow. I wouldn't care if I never saw the stuff again!
If I do decide on going anywhere this year over the Xmas holidays I'm now thinking that it would be best to fly somewhere.

I still haven't decided where I'm going for the Xmas holidays. Two years ago I made up my mind that I wasn't going to spend the holiday at home and went by myself to Hilton Head. Last year, I convinced Dave and Eileen to go with me and we went to Orlando and the Keys. This year, they have the grandchildren visiting so it means I'll have to go alone. I don't mind travelling by myself - I've done several such trips, but it's a little different over the holidays when you're supposed to be with family and friends. I just don't feel like doing that anymore.
There's still plenty of time to decide on a destination - a lot will depend on how much I can afford to spend!

I thought about starting a new blog last year in which I would write about my travels. I regret not having followed through on this because since that time I've visited numerous places. It started in March 2006 when I visited Hawaii with Kyla and Daryl, then in September when Dave and I visited San Antonio, followed by a Christmas vacation in Orlando and the Keys with Dave & Eileen. In 2007, Dave and I drove across the USA stopping off in Amarillo, Sedona, San Diego and culminating with our trip to Indianapolis for the USA Formula One Grand Prix. This was followed in October with a trip by Eileen and I to Charleston and Washington DC. At present, I am still trying to decide where I will go over the Christmas holidays.
All of my trips, with the exception of Hawaii, involve travelling by car. It's not that I don't like flying, but I would much rather drive so that I can experience the scenery and happenings along the way.
